London-based aesthetician Abigail James’ name is well-known amongst the capital’s celebrities and beauty die-hards. Her ‘skin coach’ method is as simple and straightforward as they come: she assesses your skin and suggests a fully bespoke facial or body treatment, tailored to your specific needs. No more, no less. It’s a method she intricately details in her first book Love Your Skin, released in May this year. Living it gets a sneak peek inside her summer beauty bag and asks how to achieve the ideal summertime complexion.

Where can we spot you this summer?

“I will be in London seeing my clients, Ibiza to spend some down time with my kiddies as well as Cornwall for some surfing. I usually squeeze in a last minute yoga weekend somewhere sunny.”

What can we find in your beauty beach bag this summer?

“Obviously SPF. I’m in love with [**Aveda**](<http://www.aveda.com/products/17737/skincare/spf-protection
>) SPF for the face and [**Lancaster**](<https://www.lancaster-beauty.com/suncare/sun-beauty/
>) for the body. A facial spritz current favourite is Caudalie Grape Water. And an antioxidant serum to protect and reverse some of the UV exposure Cosmedix Affirm , Medik8 Cetetra both are fantastic!”

From left to right: Lancaster Sun Beauty SPF 30; Medik8 Cetetra serum; Ouli’s Ointment multi-purpose balm (editor’s pick); Skin Laundry facial sheet mark; Aveda tinted moisturizer SPF15; Cosmedix Affirm serum; Caudalie grape water; and Lanolips multi-purpose balm (editor’s pick).

Which skin treatment do you recommend to prep for the summer and to recover from it?

“To prep your skin would be something like a Venus Diamond Polar Facial, it’s amazing at making the skin look radiant and healthy, boosts your own collagen production and gives an instant lift. Post-holiday, I would totally recommend a bespoke treatment, such as my Hero Facial, you might need some extractions post the humid weather and SPF as well as a huge boost of hydration and antioxidants to restore.”

What tips could you share to stay fresh during flight travel and to combat jetlag?

“Take a sheet mask on flight with you, Skin Laundry have an incredibly hydrating one. Along with a small pot of balm, this can be used as a hydrator, for hands, hair and skin. Needless to say as well, drink lots of water!”
