Euronews Academy provides high-quality training programs designed to empower trainees with the latest media techniques to create content and successfully run a media outlet across an ever-evolving industry landscape.
The Academy in Kazakhstan
Euronews Academy is an educational program aimed at enhancing professional skills in the field of journalism and media. The program consists of training courses: “Digital Journalism”, “Media Techniques”, and “TV & Live Journalism”.
The program which consists of TV&Live Journalism Course and Digital Journalism Course is open to media practitioners with 1–3 years of experience. Participation in the program is free of charge (expenses are not covered). Trainings are conducted in Astana.
The courses will be held within the period of October 20 – November 14, 2025 and from November 3, 2025 – March 2026 (For Media Techniques Course)

About the course trainers
Bojan Brkic – Astana Bureau Chief, Euronews
Accomplished journalist and media leader with extensive experience in the broadcasting industry. Since January 2025, he has been serving as the Euronews Astana Bureau Chief, overseeing operations in Kazakhstan. Prior to this, he was the Editor-In-Chief of Euronews Serbia, where he played a pivotal role in launching the news channel, selecting a team, designing workflows, and successfully putting it on air in June 2021. From 2004, he held various leadership roles at Radio-Television of Serbia.
Sergio Cantone – Senior EU Correspondent, Euronews
Experienced media professional with a demonstrated history of working in the broadcast media industry. Skilled in Field Production, Translation, Breaking News, Radio, and Media Relations. Strong media and communication professional with a Master of Arts (M.A.) focused in Political Science from Université Libre de Bruxelles.
Tuba Altunkaya – Multimedia Journalist, Euronews
Tuba Altunkaya has over 13 years of international experience, specializing in creating meaningful content across various platforms. Has worked as an editor of the day, multimedia journalist, and social media manager for Turkish and English desks. Skilled in live broadcasting, video editing, data-driven storytelling, and original content creation. Projects include breaking news coverage, analytical pieces, and visual storytelling.
Theologos (Akis) Tatsis – Head of Euronews Greek Service, Bureau Chief at Euronews Tashkent
Akis Tatsis is an experienced broadcast journalist and media executive, currently leading Euronews Greek Service as its Head since February 2022, and as Bureau Chief of Euronews Tashkent since June 2025. He has fronted coverage in areas including European affairs, elections all over Europe, geopolitical developments, human-interest and migration reporting, economic crises and recovery stories, and cultural stories.
Levan Shermadini – Chief cameraman, Euronews Georgia
A seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in television production, governmental media operations, visual arts education, and international news broadcasting.
Starting as chief camera operator and Studio director at TV Company Kavkasia, he transitioned into academia as a Lecturer in Visual Arts at the International University of Media. From 2005 to 2012, he served in critical visual media roles within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office of Georgia, covering high-level operations and official events. From 2012 to 2024, he contributed significantly to corporate communications and public relations. Since 2020, he has held the role of Chief Cameraman at Euronews Georgia, leading visual production for a global news platform.
Denis Loctier – Anchor and producer, Euronews
Denis is the anchor and producer of “Ocean”, a monthly show specialised in the blue economy and marine life. Euronews journalist since 2001, Denis has produced short TV documentaries on more than 200 international research projects and covered a variety of other topics, from economy and tourism to international politics and military conflicts. He holds a PhD in Information and Communication Sciences and is certified to operate in hostile environments. He can also fly paragliders, pilot drones, navigate vessels, and dive to depths of 60 meters.
Valeri Odikadze
A seasoned expert in television and video production with over 21 years of professional experience. He is a skilled cameraman, video editor, and trainer, having taught media students and professionals in Georgia’s leading universities. His career spans work with major international broadcasters including BBC, CNN, CNBC, Euronews, Al Jazeera, France 24, RAI, PBS, Arte, and many others. Valeri holds a postgraduate diploma in IT from Georgian Technical University and has completed specialized trainings in AVID editing and production lighting in Germany, Russia, and the USA.
Kakhaber Chalelishvili – Sound Engineer and Mixing Engineer, Euronews Georgia
Kakhaber has been working in the sound field for 20 years. 2005-2010, Mixing Engineer at Mziuri TV Company. 2010-2012, Audio Visual Director at Pik TV Company. 2012-2017, Mixing Engineer at Imedi TV Company. 2013-2025, Mixing Engineer at Public Broadcasting. 2019-2025, Chief Sound Engineer at Formula TV Company. From 2024, Mixing Engineer at Euronews Georgia. He taught audio engineering at Caucasus University, in the Faculty of Television and Cinema.
Jane Witherspoon – Managing Editor, Euronews
Jane Witherspoon appears in some of Euronews’ best-known titles, like Interview, City Scenes and Target. Jane has interviewed high-profile personalities, entrepreneur Steven Bartlett, Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer, EU Ambassador to the UAE Andrea Matteo Fontana, chef Gordon Ramsay and legendary hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. Prior to Euronews, Jane worked as an entertainment correspondent for Sky News and news reporter for the BBC. She also conducted extensive work as a freelance reporter for ITV, Reuters, and Getty. During these years, Jane covered significant events such as the US Presidential elections, the London Olympics, and the Oscars, and interviewed numerous celebrities, like Madonna, George Clooney, and Tom Cruise, as well as former British Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and David Cameron. Jane holds a BA (Hons) degree in Media from Liverpool John Moores University.

- 1-3 years of work experience in media.
- Good knowledge of the English language (equivalent to B1, B2).
- Good knowledge in media and journalism, demonstrated through academic projects, publications, or extracurricular activities.
- Strong motivation for professional growth and international mindset.

- Experience in media, video production, journalism, and show production.
- Basic knowledge of the English language.

- Recommendation letters (in English) from supervisors, professors and colleagues will be an advantage.
- A copy of the ID card.
- A signed and officially sealed letter in English from the workplace confirming that the applicant is employed at that organization.

Selection Process
Selection Process of the TV&Live Journalism Course
Applications should be sent from October 6 to October 13, 2025, 6.00 PM (Astana time). Documents received after the specified deadline will not be reviewed. The selection will be based on evaluation of submitted documents. Applicants will be assessed against the candidate requirements detailed in Section “Candidate Requirements”. Successful applicants will be notified via email by October 17.
Selection Process of the Digital Journalism Course
Applications should be sent from October 20 to October 28, 2025, 6.00 PM (Astana time). Documents received after the specified deadline will not be reviewed. The selection will be based on evaluation of submitted documents. Applicants will be assessed against the candidate requirements detailed in Section “Candidate Requirements”. Successful applicants will be notified via email by November 5.
Selection Process of the Media Techniques Course
Applications should be sent from October 16 to October 23, 2025, 6.00 PM (Astana time). Documents received after the specified deadline will not be reviewed. The selection will be based on evaluation of submitted documents. Applicants will be assessed against the candidate requirements detailed in Section “Candidate Requirements”.
Successful applicants will be notified via email by October 30.
Considering the diverse audience of the Media Techniques Course, applicants can choose the module that interests them and participate only in that module. When preparing and sending their application, they must specify which module of the Course they are applying for.
Certificate Conditions
A certificate is awarded to participants who successfully complete the course.
To receive a certificate, participants must:
- Attend 100% of all course modules.
- Actively participate in practical exercises, discussions, and group activities.
- Complete all required assignments.
Additional Conditions
- Course modules are conducted in English.
- Euronews Academy will try to adhere to the announced trainers and dates, however it is possible that force majeure events require changes in the schedule.
- All expenses related to travel, accommodation, and daily needs are the responsibility of the participants.
