“The hostage situation is over. The prisoner has surrendered,” French Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti tweeted.
The justice ministry said that following negotiations with police forces, the prisoner had surrendered. It said the female prison guard was not hurt and was receiving psychological assistance, while the second guard was receiving medical care.
Broadcaster BFMTV reported the male guard had sustained an injury to his right eye and that the hostage-taker was serving a long sentence for rape and attempted murder.
