France fines power group EDF 1.8 million euros for late payments to suppliers

PARIS (Reuters) - France has fined state-controlled power company EDF <EDF.PA> 1.8 million euros (£1.6 million) for late payments to suppliers, the country's finance and economy ministry said on Thursday.

EDF said in a statement that it took note of the decision to fine the company, and added it would step up its procedures and checks to ensure payments to suppliers were made on time.
