London underground station closed due to overcrowding - transport authority

LONDON (Reuters) - The temporary closure of London's North Greenwich underground station was due to overcrowding, the city's transport authority said on Wednesday, after passengers at the station were told to leave due to an unspecified emergency.

"It's a crowd control measure," a Transport for London (TfL) spokeswoman said. A witness later said passengers were re-entering the station.

The breakdown of a train at Canary Wharf station has led to the suspension of London's Jubilee Line, which links the Canary Wharf financial district with central London.

Canary Wharf and Waterloo underground stations - both major transport hubs - also have restricted access due to overcrowding, TfL said.
