GENEVA (Reuters) - A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck near the city of Ahvaz in southwest Iran, the Mehr news agency reported on Thursday.

The quake struck at a depth of 14 kilometres (8.7 miles), according to Mehr.

The agency did not provide any information about possible casualties or damage.
