Barking up the right tree: Police dog gets praise for his performance

A Cape Town police dog has received a special medal on Wednesday for his exemplary service to the force.

Savage and his handler have ratcheted up a number of accolades over the last six months, hauling in over $100,000 worth of drugs.

He is one of 25 dogs — who are trained to sniff out everything from explosives to stolen copper cables — the city's police has at its disposal.
