MADRID (Reuters) - World number one Novak Djokovic won a third Madrid Open title by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4 in Sunday's final.

The Serbian made the perfect start under blue skies and soaring temperatures in the Spanish capital, racing into a 4-1 lead as he broke Tsitsipas’s first service game.

The 15-time grand slam winner was in complete command, seeing out the set as Tsitsipas, who had knocked out Rafa Nadal the day before, showed signs of fatigue.

The Greek eighth seed rallied somewhat in the second set but Djokovic broke to go 5-4 up before serving out the match.
