LONDON (Reuters) - Spurs Ladies secured automatic promotion to the FA Women's Super League for the first time in their history with a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on Wednesday which means they finish runners-up in the second-tier Championship.

Teenager Jessica Naz gave the visitors the lead in the first minute but Amy West equalised for Villa shortly after halftime.

Spurs held on to claim the point they needed to secure second spot in the standings behind champions Manchester United.

They will be known as Tottenham Hotspur Women from next season and should officially confirm their place in the Super League by fulfilling FA licence criteria later this month.
