Indigenous peoples gather to defend their lands in Brazil

Thousands of indigenous protesters gathered at the Esplanade of Ministries of Brasilia to defend the land and the cultural rights of indigenous peoples who feel threatened by the government of Jair Bolsonaro.

The protesters will stay in the Esplanade in a camp for three consecutive days. The protests are expected to gain momentum after the Bolsonaro government-granted power to the Ministry of Agriculture to identify, delimit and create new indigenous reserves
