OSLO (Reuters) - Norway's Equinor has submitted a bid to supply New York with offshore wind power from its Empire Wind project south of Long Island, the company said on Thursday.

Equinor's bid comes in response to the 800 MW procurement of offshore wind by the New York State, with the state expected to choose a supplier in spring this year.

The company secured the 80,000-acre lease in a federal auction in December 2016, with a potential capacity of up to 2 gigawatt (GW) offshore wind power.
