BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Ireland's central bank governor Philip Lane is a candidate to replace European Central Bank's chief economist Peter Praet when Praet's term ends at the end of May, Ireland's finance minister Paschal Donohoe told reporters on Monday.
"I'm pleased to confirm that I will be nominating Philip Lane for the approaching vacancy in the executive board of the European Central Bank," he said on entering a meeting of euro zone finance ministers where the process of seeking Praet's replacement will be launched.
