LONDON (Reuters) - British house prices look set to rise by 2 to 4 percent next year, assuming a smooth departure from the European Union, after growth at the lower end of a zero to 3 percent range this year, mortgage lender Halifax said on Thursday.

"Uncertainty around how Brexit plays out means there are risks to both sides of our forecast," Halifax managing director Russell Galley said.

On Tuesday, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors predicted house prices would be flat in 2019.
