LONDON (Reuters) - British carmaker Vauxhall, which is owned by Peugeot parent company PSA <PEUP.PA>, is to shed 241 jobs from its Ellesmere Port car plant in the latest cuts at the site, deepening union concerns over the future of the factory.

"This restructuring is critical to ensure that the Ellesmere Port plant develops its competitiveness during this difficult time within the industry," Vauxhall said in a statement.

Britain's biggest trade union Unite said it was seeking urgent assurances over the future of the northwest England site, after previous job cuts announced earlier this year and in 2017.
