LONDON (Reuters) - Brazilian Sergio Sette Camara has joined McLaren's young driver programme in a test and development role, the Formula One team said on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old was Formula Two team mate this year to Lando Norris, the British teenager who will make his F1 race debut with McLaren next season in an all-new lineup with Spaniard Carlos Sainz.

Sette Camara was previously part of the Red Bull young driver programme, testing with Toro Rosso in 2016, but was dropped last year. He is backed by Petrobras, McLaren's fuel supplier.

Brazil, the country of multiple world champions Emerson Fittipaldi, Nelson Piquet and the late Ayrton Senna, has no current Formula One driver.
