BERLIN (Reuters) - VfL Wolfsburg, who narrowly escaped relegation last season, came from a goal down to cruise past hosts Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 on Saturday, for their second upset in two matches, and climb to the top of the table.

The Wolves, who stunned last season's runners-up Schalke 04 2-1 on the first matchday last week, went a goal down when Leon Bailey grabbed the lead for the visitors.

But keeper Ramazan Ozcan's 36th-minute own goal was followed by two more goals after the break with Wout Weghorst heading in after 55 minutes and Renato Steffen on the hour.

Wolfsburg, who had survived a relegation playoff last season to stay in the Bundesliga after finishing 16th, are on six points.

Champions League club Hoffenheim bounced back from their opening loss to Bayern Munich and beat Freiburg 3-1 courtesy of forward Adam Szalai's second-half double and Andrej Kramaric's stoppage-time goal.

Champions Bayern also hope to make it two wins out of two when they travel to VfB Stuttgart later on Saturday, while Schalke host Hertha Berlin on Sunday.
