(Reuters) - Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos will be available to play in Sunday's Premiership clash against St Mirren after he had his red card rescinded, the Scottish Football Association said on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old Colombian was sent off just 12 minutes into Rangers' 1-1 draw at Aberdeen last weekend after kicking out at Dons defender Scott McKenna.

However, the Scottish FA's fast-track tribunal has downgraded the offence from violent conduct to a yellow card.

Speaking ahead of Thursday's Europa League qualifier against Maribor, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard expressed his relief after the decision was overturned.

"I have spoken to Morelos and our conversations will always remain private," he said.

"We have just heard that the red card has been rescinded. Thankfully he is available for us at the weekend as he is a big player for us."
