(Reuters) - Brighton and Hove Albion will enter the new Premier League season in better shape than ever after a gruelling pre-season run, captain Bruno has said.

Brighton are yet to record a victory in four pre-season fixtures, drawing with Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic and Switzerland's FC St. Gallen and losing to AFC Wimbledon, ahead of their final friendly against FC Nantes later on Friday.

Despite the underwhelming results, defender Bruno believes Brighton are better prepared for the upcoming campaign than last term, when they finished 15th in the league.

"It has been a physically very tough pre-season – harder than last season," Bruno told the Argus.

"We are going to arrive in better shape than ever when we get to the league. Last season we were a very solid team, a team who worked hard, and that will stay the same."

Brighton travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford in their first league fixture on Aug. 11.
