Young South African Violinists

A violin club in Masiphumelele Township in South Africa's coastal city, Cape Town is providing children with a worthy pastime activity, meant to keep them away from trouble in one of the city's most dangerous neighbourhoods.

The Masiphumelele Music Outreach holds three-hour classes twice a week at a local centre, targeting students who live in the nearby informal Masiphumelele settlement, home to about 40,000 people.

The project was founded by violin teacher, Titia Blake in 2011.
