Scotland opens spectacular new bridge

Scotland’s spectacular new Queensferry Crossing, which has cost nearly one and a half billion euros, is the third bridge across the Firth of Forth, which now has a bridge for each of the last three centuries spanning its waters.

Scotland’s spectacular new Queensferry Crossing, which has cost nearly one and a half billion euros, is the third bridge across the Firth of Forth, which now has a bridge for each of the last three centuries spanning its waters.

First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon took selfies with members of the public as pedestrians were allowed to cross before it was opened to traffic.

“There’s a real feeling of pride on the part of all the people I’ve spoken to today. I sense that what’s been created here is a transport link, it’s here to do a job, but it’s a stunning icon as well that will be known and become known, not just in Scotland, but right across the world. One of the best bridges anywhere in the world,” she said.

If you want to do the same, then it’s too late.

“We’ve come here because I think they’ve marketed it as a once in a lifetime opportunity and it is. None of my friends can say that they’ve walked across here, so therefore it’s great,” said one member of the large group of walkers who joined Sturgeon.
