Tesco claim that sales have declined less than expected indicating a reversal in fortunes is around the corner.

New chief executive Dave Lewis introduced price cuts on much liked brands, put more staff in the stores and improved product availability.

Tesco says that 180,000 more customers shopped in its stores in the first quarter.
