Get ready for the first of its genre: the wheelchair gangster movie.

‘The Kills on Wheels’, currently being shot in Budapest, tells the story of a firefighter who becomes paralysed after an accident. Living in a wheelchair, he feels that society has no need for disabled people. So he starts working as a hit man.

Himself disabled, drama student Ádám Fekete says he was just right for the movie: “My specific experience is perfect for this film. The role I play is similar to my real personality: a character who’s ironic at times, but also shy.”

The actor who plays the wheelchair firefighter is the only non-disabled actor in the movie. At the start of the film, he is still able to walk.

Director Attila Till says he wanted to give a true picture of everyday life for people with disabilities, so he chose disabled actors because he believes the on-screen result is more realistic.

“Some scenes are not realistic, too exaggerated, and that’s why they are good. Look at other movies where Jason Statham kills 20 people, for example, or where James Bond runs on the top of a train and then leaves by a helicopter – such scenes are also exaggerated,” says the director.

A film of a new genre, wheelchair gangster movie “The Kills on Wheels” by Attila Till is currently being shot in Budapest and set for release sometime next year.
