The far-right British National Party has expelled former chairman Nick Griffin amid accusations that he has been trying to cause disunity in an attempt to destabilise the organisation.

Griffin chaired the BNP for 15 years before leaving his position in July.

He was declared bankrupt in January and lost his seat as an MEP in May’s European elections.
