French rider Nacer Bouhanni continued his fine 2014 season on Sunday when he claimed stage two of the Vuelta a Espana.
The day’s ride took the peloton over 174.4 kilometres from Algeciras to San Fernando in the province of Cadiz.
A day-long break was reeled in some 16 kilometres from the line.
The sprinters’ teams then gathered at the front ready for final dash home.
Bouhanni highlighted his rapidly rising status as a top sprinter when he powered out of the pack to beat Germany’s John Degenkolb and celebrate his 10th win of the season.
Spain’s Alejandro Valverde of the Movistar team took over the leader’s red jersey ahead of Monday’s rolling stage to Arcos de la Frontera.
