British police have searched the Berkshire home of Sir Cliff Richard following what they have described as “an allegation of a sexual nature dating back to the 1980s involving a boy who was under the age of 16 at the time.”

It is understood that the alleged offence is related to a 1985 crusade with American evangelist Billy Graham.

No arrests have been made and the singer confirmed his apartment was searched. He issued a statement saying the allegation was “completely false.”
