American actress Lauren Bacall has died.
The celebrity site TMZ said the 89-year-old suffered a massive stroke at her home on Tuesday morning.
A major star of Hollywood’s golden age, Bacall got her break at the age of 19 in To Have And Have Not with future husband Humphrey Bogart.
Instantly identifiable as the sultry star with the husky voice, her sexy but soft glance soon became known as ‘The Look’.
Bacall and Bogart remained together until his death from cancer in 1957 and they worked together on several more films.
Her nearly seven decade-long career included movies like Key Largo, The Big Sleep and How to Marry a Millionaire.
In 2009, she was awarded an honorary Oscar and continued working right up till her death, most recently on an episode of TV’s Family Guy.
