The summer movie menu is out and the boys in green are back in a remake of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’.
The film stars Megan Fox as a journalist who comes across the fab four turtles who have developed super hero skills as a result of exposure to toxic waste.
All the old favourites, such as Shredder – the baddie – are back and in form.
Another potential summer hit is ‘Sin City:A Dame to Kill For’.
The sequel to ‘Sin City’ pairs Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller who together recreate Miller’s dark and graphic characters for the big screen.
Co-director Robert Rodriguez, loves Miller’s work: “It’s great characters, great story, amazing mythology that he’s bringing even more so into this film, and then just seeing everything in a new way because that’s how he visualised it graphically in the novel. Let’s just do that on the movie screen, exactly the same way.”
Cinema history plays a part in Frank Millers comic vision: “One of the things that is a pleasure for me is to do the old film noir thing, which is to show somebody who is down and out, who might seem like a scoundrel, then we find one moment when he proves he’s a hero.”
Already in cinemas, and raking it in the US, is Luc Besson’s ‘Lucy’ starring Scarlett Johansson.
She plays a woman with telekinetic powers as a result of a drug implant.
