French banker who lost billions may have custodial sentence reduced

Jérôme Kerviel the banker found guilty of losing French bank Société Générale 4.9 billion euro is on course to have his five-year sentence reduced.

A ruling by a French judge could permit Kerviel to be tagged rather than serve a custodial sentence.

Prosecutors have ten days in which to appeal.
