Montreux`s famous jazz festival is well underway, with many of its remaining gigs already sold out. Among the highlights so far have been the British collective Jungle.
They have released two singles, Platoon and Heat, both disks highlighting their tight but laid back sound.
The group have only been together since the beginning of 2013 but their brand of English soul has already been winning converts, with the band touring for the rest of the year.
Another British outfit has also been winning plaudits at the Swiss resort, with their session at the Jazz Lab selling out quickly.
Metronomy, have been around a lot longer than Jungle, with the the electro pop quartet initially forming in 1999. Their last album ‘Love Letters’ was released earlier in 2014. They will also be touring for most of this year, performing across much of Europe.
Also at the Jazz Lab, the American duo MGMT brought a poppier sound to the venue.
The band admit they may have struggled to cope with the early success of their first album Oracular Spectacular in 2008. That spawned an international hit, Kids, but they reformed in 2013 and now have three albums to their credit.
They have also returned to the road and have upcoming dates in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Russia and the Czech Republic.
