Tour de France winner and four-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Bradley Wiggins says he will not compete in this year’s Tour “as things stand”.
The cyclist won the Tour in 2012, but did not participate in 2013, when fellow Brit and Team Sky rider Chris Froome took the title.
Wiggins has said he is only likely to be included in the Tour if the defending champion is injured, or if he leaves the team.
With his contract expiring in 2014, Wiggins is said to be considering his future.
He was expected to make a return to track cycling this year, but said he would like another crack at the Tour before making a decision about this.
