Celebrations by Real Madrid fans after their 10th European Cup win have continued on the streets of the Spanish capital into Sunday morning.
Thousands of Real fans flocked to the Plaza de Cibeles where fans traditionally mark their successes. The Real team is expected to arrive there from Lisbon at around midday for its victory parade.
There was heartbreak for Atletico fans who had been moments away from a Champions league victory before Real equalised, swiftly following it up with a 4-1 victory.
Atletico had celebrated winning the Spanish league title in the streets of the capital just a week ago but were denied what would have been their first ever European Cup by their arch-rivals.
It was the first time a Champions League final had ever featured two clubs from the same city.
