Claudia Ranieri has stepped down as coach of French first division side Monaco after two years in charge.

The Italian arrived at Monaco in 2012 and immediately guided the principality club to the second division title and promotion to the topflight.

In his second season in charge his side finished runners up in Ligue One nine points behind champions Paris Saint Germain.

It is unknown where the former Chelsea, Juventus and Roma boss is heading next but Sporting Lisbon coach Leonardo Jardim has been widely tipped to be the 62-year-old’s replacement at Monaco.
