They have been burying their dead in Odessa.

The first of more than 40 funerals of mostly pro-Russian supporters killed in a building fire last Friday have been taking place. More are planned over the next few days.

A normally tolerant city many in the city blame the Kyiv government for making the people of Odessa oppose each other.

One man said, “We are only given one life, so we must not kill one another.”

While a woman attending one of the funerals said: “We cry and support each other while we bury our dead countrymen who feel like our close friends.”

In Kramatorsk hundreds of mourners attended the funeral of a young nurse killed during a Ukrainian military assault in the city. Julia Izotova was just 21 when her car came under fire. She died on the way to hospital.

If some were once preaching moderation, for a future within Ukraine, with each death they are fast being drowned out by those wanting to breakaway from Kyiv altogether.
