Atletico Madrid will look to continue their stunning run of form on Tuesday when they host Chelsea in their Champions League semi-final first leg at the Vicente Calderon stadium.
Diego Simeone’s men are currently on track for La Liga success while their fine form has put them in the last four of Europe’s top club competition for the first time in 40 years – and unbeaten to boot.
Simeone said: “I’m picturing a very tight result and match. It is going to be decided by details and individual skills. The work of the team will increase the possibilities to individually have the opportunity to decide”.
Chelsea will hope to leave the Spanish capital with a first-leg victory but they will have to try and do so without injured striker Samuel Eto’o and suspended defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Eden Hazard faces a late fitness test but has travelled to Spain as the Blue’s begin their bid to reach the final for a second time in three seasons.
Fernando Torres meanwhile is expected to receive a hero’s welcome on his return to his first club.
On Wednesday Real Madrid host defending champions Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu in their semi-final first leg tie.
