Mount Everest, the highest peak on earth, has been littered with rubbish left by repeated expeditions to its summit.

Now Nepal is warning anyone climbing beyond base camp that they will have to bring at least eight kilos of rubbish back down – in addition to their own – or face legal action.

Mount Everest has been climbed by more than 4,000 people
since the historic ascent in 1953 by Sir Edmund Hillary and
Sherpa Tenzing Norgay.
