After a close second place finish in Saturday’s event in Titisee-Neustadt World Champion Kamil Stoch finally opened up his account for the new biathlon world cup season by winning the large hill at the German resort on Sunday.
With leaps of 142.5 m and 138.5 the Pole amassed 300.7 points for the win.
He finished the competition in the Black Forest 7.8 points clear of Simon Ammann.
The Four-time Olympic champion from Switzerland, who was third on Saturday, moved up a place on the podium after posting jumps of 142.5 m and 141.5 m.
Noriaki Kasai of Japan took third place.
Gregor Schlierenzauer’s wobbly form continued as he missed his third straight podium with a share of eighth place, but it was an even worse day for fellow Austrian and Saturday’s winner Thomas Morgenstern, who suffered heavy bruising, a broken finger and cuts to the face after a first-round crash landing.
