Two-time Olympic champion Maria Hoefl-Riesch claimed victory yet again in the second of two downhill events in Lake Louise on Saturday.

The 29-year-old, who edged out Marianne Kaufmann-Abderhalden of Switzerland to win Friday’s event, posted a winning time of 1 minute, and 55.09 seconds on a clear, but bitterly cold day.

Hoefl-Riesch finished 0.34 seconds ahead of runner-up Tina Weirather with Anna Fenninger completing the podium.

America’s Lindsey Vonn continued her comeback from injury with an improved performance. The Olympic champion who was racing for the second time since rupturing knee ligaments 10 months ago, finished in 11th place, 1.26 seconds behind Hoefl-Riesch.
