Belgium secured a place in next year’s World Cup finals when Romelu Lukaku scored twice on Friday. Belgium beat Croatia 2-1 to clinch the top spot in Group A.
Croatia and Serbia taking second and third places respectively.
Italy drew two-all against Denmark on Friday and sit at the top of Group B with Bulgaria and Denmark fighting for second place.
In Group C, the Republic of Ireland’s hopes of making the World Cup play-offs ended on Friday with a 3-0 defeat by Germany, who sealed their place in the finals.
Sweden beat Austria into second place in the Group C the standings.
The Netherlands are at the top of Group D after their impressive 8-1 victory over Hungary. Second place will be between Romania and Turkey.
Despite a late penalty and pressure from Albania, Switzerland have qualified thanks to a 2-1 win in Tirana.
In Group E, Slovenia beat Norway and Iceland’s win over Cyprus on Friday.
Russia have one foot in Brazil after beating Luxembourg 4-0. The other team fighting for second place in Group F is Portugal.
Bosnia are at the top of Group G with a higher goal difference after their 4-1 win over Liechtenstein.
Andros Townsend inspired England to a 4-1 victory over Montenegro which keeps them on course to qualify for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil and currently at the top of Group H
Spain almost qualified after beating Belarus 2-1 in Group I.
