Pro-cycling’s Saxo Bank team announced on Thursday in Madrid they will continue to race next year despite losing co-title sponsor.
Team leader Alberto Contador took the opportunity also to confirm his participation in both the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana.
The two time tour de france winner said: “Is perfectly compatible. It is clear that there should be the right conditions: appropriate tours; a very strong team working with me for the Tour (de France) as well as for La Vuelta. They need to be fresh because we have a huge responsibility. If I wasn’t confident about this I would only ride one of them”.
Online trader and money manager Saxo Bank agreed to increase funding of the team managed by Bjarne Riis for another year after Tinkoff Credit Systems Bank withdrew its sponsorship.
Reports suggest the owner of the Russian bank – Oleg Tinkov – is planning to start at team of his own.
