Sebastian Vettel steered himself closer to a fourth world title on Sunday by winning the Singapore Grand Prix for a third consecutive season.

Under the floodlights at the marina bay Street Circuit the German Red Bull driver led from pole to flag to notch up his seventh win of the 2013 campaign and third straight triumph.

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso came home second while Kimi Raikkonen drove through the pain barrier with a bad back to climb from 13th on the grid to eventually cross the line in third for Lotus.

Vettel’s seventh win of the season put the 26-year-old on 247 points in the drivers standings – 60 points clear of Alonso and 96 clear of Lewis Hamilton in third. Raikkonen inched to within two points of the British 2008 world champion in fourth.

Red Bull continue to dominate the constructors race ahead of Italian glamour team Ferrari and Mercedes with six races left.

The next race is the Korean Grand Prix that takes place on October 6 in Yeongnam.
