A Chinese court has sentenced ousted senior politician Bo Xilai to life in prison. He was found guilty of corruption, embezzlement and abuse of power.
The judge who sentenced him, at a court in Jinan, said Bo had damaged China’s national interests.
Once a former rising star within the ruling Communist party, Bo was the popular leader of Chongqing city.
He was removed from office last year amid a scandal that saw his wife convicted for the murder of British businessman Neil Heywood
Bo denied all the charges against him during his trial in August and still has the right to appeal.
His fall from grace has been described as the biggest upset for the China’s political elite in decades.
