Emirates Team New Zealand took a huge step towards clinching the America’s Cup when they outclassed Oracle Team USA on San Francisco Bay on Wednesday.

Dean Barker’s men produced yet another flawless run to edge to within one win of taking the oldest sports trophy back to Auckland, but will have to wait at least another day after Wednesday’s second race was postponed due to high winds.

Oracle Team USA, owned by software billionaire Larry Ellison, were docked two points going into the match following the biggest cheating scandal in the 162-year history of the America’s Cup, which means they now have to win the next eight races in the best-of-17 series to secure the title.
