Floyd Mayweather was in a class of his own as he outboxed Saul Canelo Alvarez take the Mexican’s WBA and WBC super welterweight titles.

The 36-year-old American won a majority points decision in Las Vegas to maintain his unbeaten record.

After a slow opening few rounds Mayweather opened up starting in the fourth and continued to outfox his red-haired opponent turning defense into offense.

Although one judge surprisingly scored the bout a draw the two others went heavily in favour of Mayweather who stretched his unbeaten run to 45 fights.

For the win Mayweather earned just over 31 million euros – a record purse.
