US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov plan to meet again on or around September 28 for further talks on Syria.
An aim of the meeting, to take place in New York, will be to set a date for the so-called “Geneva 2” peace conference to reinvigorate international diplomatic efforts to end the war in Syria.
At a meeting with Lavrov in Geneva, Kerry said: “President Obama is deeply committed to a negotiated solution with respect to Syria. And we know that Russia is likewise. We are working hard to find a common ground to be able to make that happen.”
