The annual Belgian Beer Weekend got underway on Friday with a solemn blessing to honour the patron saint of brewers, Saint-Arnould.
Festival organisers say 75,000 people are expected to attend, of which two-thirds will be from overseas.
More than 350 beers are on tap this weekend – just a small percentage of the thousands of beers made in Belgium.
This year, beer glasses have been reduced in size from 33 to 15 cl to go along with their new motto: “beer brewed carefully, to be consumed with care.”
Belgian beers often contain between eight and ten percent alcohol.
