Britain’s Andy Murray will be looking to become the first man since Roger Federer in 2008 to successfully defend his US Open title when the last Grand Slam of the year gets underway in Flushing Meadows, New York on Monday.

Despite being billed as favourite to win by tennis legend John McEnroe, the 26 year old will face tough competition from Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, who knows a loss could cost him his number one ranking.

Spain’s Rafael Nadal will also be one to watch after he extended his hard-court winning streak to 15-0 this season, with a convincing straight sets win over John Isner in the final of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinatti last week.

The U.S. Open draw will be released on Thursday.
