A stuntman who parachuted into the opening ceremony of last year’s London Olympics as James Bond’s double has been killed in a wing-diving accident in the Swiss Alps.

Mark Sutton, a 42-year-old former Ghurkha Rifles officer, died after jumping from a helicopter and crashing into a mountain ridge in the Trient area near the border with France on Wednesday.

Swiss police are investigating.

At the Olympics Sutton parachuted dressed as 007 alongside another double of the Queen into the London stadium, in the highlight of the opening ceremony.
