Several Tunisian soldiers have been killed in an ambush near the Algerian border. The government has described it as the biggest terrorist attack on the country’s security forces in decades.

At least eight soldiers were shot dead and three more injured in Mount Chaambi , a remote area where Tunisian troops have been trying to track down Islamist militants since December last year.

Tunisia’s president has announced three days of mourning for the dead.
