Germany’s women’s football team were given a heroes’ welcome on their return to Frankfurt on Monday following their narrow 1-0 win over Norway in the final of the European Championships in Sweden.

With several key players missing through injury, Die Mannschaft broke the deadlock just after the restart thanks to striker Anja Mittag
and held on as team captain Nadine Angerer saved two penalties to secure a hard-fought win.

It was Germany’s sixth consecutive success and their fourth Euro final triumph over Norway.
