Russia military might on show at 'largest army exercises since Soviet times'

In Russia, President Vladimir Putin looked on as the army carried out its biggest military exercise since Soviet times.

Russia said the drills involving 160,000 troops, 130 airplanes and some 5,000 tanks were part of regular combat training. Analysts say it sends a clear signal to Japan with whom Russia disputes ownership of a collection of Pacific islands.
